Body Control Pilates Level 3
I first came to Pilates whilst training in competitive figure skating. Alongside training, I could clearly feel the benefits it brought. I felt stronger, more flexible and more aware of how my body moved through space. As a professional performer I used Pilates most days to keep my body strong and injury free.
However, let’s be clear, one does not have to be a professional performer or athlete to start Pilates or feel its benefit. Everyone can get something from this method and I hope to bring these advantages to you!
Pilates
Pilates (originally coined Contrology) has a long history. It was founded in the early twentieth century by Joseph Pilates and operated under 6 principles:
Alignment
Breathing
Centring (connection through mind and body to the core)
Concentration
Precision
Flow
Whilst Pilates has changed rapidly throughout the years, these 6 principles still ring true within contemporary Pilates movement. Pilates exercises will strengthen the whole body, improve joint mobility and make you feel more grounded and concentrated in day to day life!
